Remove the single screw holding the old handle in place. Use a flat blade screwdriver to jimmy the old handle away from the door about an inch. I'm at the end of my tether. I've a 2003 Octavia estate L&K tdi PD 130. The drivers door lock has recently started playing up when unlocking with the remote on the key. It would usually work by clicking it a second time but then the remote stopped working. I could unlock the drivers door with the key and manually unlock. The rest from inside. I looked it up in the manual and it just explains that with a single press of the fob, SAFELOCK is operative, which mans you can't open the doors using the levers. Press The fob twice and it locks without activating SAFELOCK. I took the loom out of the door, took all that black tape off, all looks OK , checked continuity of all the cables, all OK. Checked and cleaned all connections, put the loom back in after wrapping it in tape, tried the window, it worked for about 5 minutes. Disconnected the motor reconnected it worked for 5 minutes.

Tandragee. 17 Feb 2013. #1. This is a bit of a strange one. The passenger rear door on my Octavia has stopped opening all of a sudden today. I think the central locking motor has packed in preventing the door from opening however the child lock is also on to prevent my son from opening it so it will not open from the interior door handle either.
